London Marathon for Anthony Nolan Charity
Donation protected
Hello, my name’s Phil and I’m fundraising for Anthony Nolan and taking on the 2024 London Marathon in April!
My special reason to run, fundraise, and raise awareness for AN is my girlfriend, Kate, who made it through aplastic anemia age fourteen thanks to the care and work of Anthony Nolan. Almost ten years later the world is that little bit brighter, livelier and more fun with her still here, living with an immune system transplanted from another similarly wonderful human being. In moments when I think about her illness, my overwhelming feeling is gratitude; to her family and friends who did such an amazing job of rallying around her, being her strength and being strong themselves; to Anthony Nolan for being so attentive and tenacious, just as she’s grown up to be; and to Kate herself, for giving me a world to feel grateful and hopeful for. So I feel really empowered and hopeful that I can ultimately facilitate stories like Kate’s by fundraising for the charity I have to thank for her still being around.
Every day, Anthony Nolan saves the lives of people with a blood cancer or blood disorder. We do this by matching incredible individuals willing to donate their stem cells to people who desperately need a lifesaving transplant. We also carry out cutting edge scientific research, fund specialist post-transplant nurses and support patients and their families through the transplant process and beyond. We won’t stop until we save the lives of everyone who needs a stem cell transplant. Every penny you donate brings us closer to that day.
