Anthony Torres Assistance Fund
Anthony Torres was mocked online after he was recorded shaving at his seat on a commuter train headed out of New York City. He was just trying to clean up after days spent in a homeless shelter.
The video another passenger filmed & posted on Twitter was viewed millions of times.
He told the Associated Press, “My life is all screwed up. That’s the reason I was shaving on the train."
We are trying to raise money for Anthony to help him get back on his feet.
I have reached out to the writer of the AP piece for Anthony's contact info, so we can set him up as recipient. To make sure the money is handled appropriately, GoFundMe is locking withdrawals until either Anthony or a shelter is set up.
Note: Anthony's brother and GoFundMe are now in contact and GFM will facilitate the transfer of funds to him.
[Outdated Note] I have reached Anthony's family and am working with his brother and him to facilitate the transfer via GoFundMe, through GFM's validation.
[Outdated Note] Note: We have reached out to the author of the AP piece for Anthony's information. If he does not want the money the money will go to a shelter or facility that assists people transitioning out of homelessness in his area. All receipts will be posted upon transfer for validation. Should the Torres family not want the donation, suggestions are welcome on preferred orgs/non-profits/shelters in that area so the money goes to a good place.
