Anthony's Path to Healing and Family Support

Hello Everyone,

As some of you may already know, our brother Anthony, was diagnosed with ulcerative pancolitis in July 2023. He has required multiple hospitalizations and emergency room visits since that time but none of them have been as difficult and arduous as his most recent episode that started in February. He was admitted at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL with an acute flare and was hoping to be discharged after a few days of treatment. Initially, he was unable to eat or drink anything causing him to lose over 30 pounds and have a feeding tube placed. He was showing improvement and was discharged home to his family after almost a month in the hospital. After two days, he was rushed back to the hospital and underwent emergency surgery that removed his entire large intestine and appendix. With such an uncertain outcome, our family was scared and couldn't help but fear the worst.

Thankfully, he made it through the surgery without any complications. He had many motivating factors on his healing journey. The biggest one being his wife, Kayla, finding out she was pregnant with their second child shortly before his hospitalization.

As a result of his medical issues and surgery, he has been unable to work while he is still recovering and adjusting to his new lifestyle. We are hoping to provide some relief of his financial burdens for his growing family as he has been the main financial provider while his wife works part time and takes care of their 8 month old daughter, Rosie.
