Antonio Iapicca, 15, Oakland resident, 10th grader at Indian Hills HS, and a member of the IHHS JV soccer team. On September 19th, Antonio was injured playing the game he loves. Anyone that knows Antonio, knows he plays with heart, he completely gives his all in each game and practice; he knows no other way. But on this day Antonio was kneed in the abdomen at an extreme speed, causing a lot of strain and internal damage to his body. After numerous tests and exams, he has been diagnosed with a serious pancreas injury and has been hospitalized since. His road to recovery is yet to be determined, as he continues to undergo treatment with the doctors and surgeons at The Children’s Hospital at Hackensack UMC. The Iapicca family, consisting of Antonio, two younger brothers, Angelo and Luca, and their parents, Gerardo and Toni, are extremely meaningful to our FLOW family, our soccer family and all that they meet. They have impacted so many lives throughout the years with their positive attitudes, their selfless acts and dedication to always helping others; people who know them truly know they have given so much back to our community. We wish to come together and help them get by a little bit easier during this difficult time. As Antonio has been in the hospital, in ICU, in pain and scared, so has his family. As you can assume, when something like this happens to your family, to your child, work and money take a backseat. You focus on the value of time with your loved ones and figure the rest out later. Antonio may be in the hospital for another 4 weeks, though, only time will tell. Something difficult with this is that since they really don’t have the answers yet, we don’t have an exact idea on what amount will be needed for Antonio’s recovery. This go fund me was started to attempt to help ease some of the stress that comes with medical costs and to help support Antonio and his family, allowing them to continue focusing on what is important; family and health. No amount is too small and any donation or kind letter will mean more than you could ever know.
On behalf of Antonio and his parents Gerardo and Toni - we are blessed, appreciative and grateful for your continued prayers, and support.
