Antonio, fondly referred to by his childhood nick name “Chubs”, was a 22-year-old smart, funny and charismatic young man. He had a smile that lit up the room, and was loved by so many. He had a special bond with his Great Grandma Dee, who raise him since he was two years old. He most recently resided with his Mother Maggie and Step-Father Quintin in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. He worked as a Balloon Artist, taught by his Nana (Robyn), and had a love for children beyond words. He was an amazing uncle to his 2 nieces (Lilly-Ann 5, Vanessa 2) and his nephew (Nico 3). He graduated, alongside his brother Marc, from the Young Marines program in 2008. Tony loved to learn and was continuously on both Principle Honor Roll and the Dean’s List. He graduated with Engineering and Technology IB honors from Forest Hill High School in 2016, and had attended Palm Beach State College until he medically couldn’t. Tony started suffering from seizures a few years ago, which changed his ability to concentrate and stay focused in school. It had been some time since Tony’s last seizure and he was hopeful to enroll back in college this fall.
On the morning of April 14th, Tony became unconscious while driving (presumably another seizure), and hit a barrier on I-95 at 90 mph. We were blessed that no other cars were involved, and the accident was reported right away getting fire rescue to the scene within minutes. Tony suffered severe brain injuries and had emergency surgery which gave the family a few more days to pray over his recovery. Doctors ruled that Tony’s brain was damaged beyond repair in multiple areas that would leave him in a vegetative state for the rest of his life. As family and friends prayed for a miracle, Tony was removed from life support on day 11. Tony miraculously started breathing on his own, but with his health still declining was moved to Hospice care where he passed the next morning. In the mist of COVID-19 the family had very limited time to say their goodbyes, and is hoping to hold a private viewing service in the upcoming weeks, followed by a celebration of life for everyone to pay their final respects when facilities open. If you find it in your heart to donate to Tony’s medical and memorial arrangements, I thank you on behalf of the family. As so many are financially struggling during COVID-19, we understand that not everyone can afford to give monetarily. If this is your case, we simply ask that you lift the family up in pray during this difficult time.
