On Mother's Day 2020, Bea Shay suffered a stroke as a result of a systemic infection. She was brought to the hospital and spent several days undergoing testing where it was determined that she would be better treated at another facility. The doctors determined that the stroke damaged her heart, which necessitated reconstructive surgery. After a month in the hospital, she has been cleared to recover at home.
For those of you who know Bea, you know she is the first to step up and help our community. She has been involved in fundraiser after fundraiser in Derry. She does hair and make up for Pinkerton Academy's plays and musicals, has supported the arts in town, and her business, Oasis by Bea, has been a main stay in downtown for almost nine years.
Bea is in need of our help. Not only has she survived a stroke and heart surgery, her shop has been closed since March when COVID-19 forced many businesses to close their doors. Other than a little unemployment, she has been without income since March, making it more imperative that we, as a community, reach out to help her. Bea is facing a long road to recovery.
Please consider donating to a super person and a dedicated resident of Derry!
I've been asked to state who I am in relationship to Bea. I'm not related, but a friend and a fan. <3
