I don't normally do anything like this, but Zaria has held a special place in my heart since I first met her when she was only 2 years old.

As many of you know, our friend Zaria will be having open heart surgery in June. The idea of open heart surgery is scary for anybody, but for a 12 year old, it must be terrifying. Zaria is so full of love and spirit, and the idea of her being afraid would break anybody’s heart. If you’ve never met her, Zaria is the girl whose favorite thing to do is put on a fancy outfit and play music while she sings and dances in their front yard.

Jason and Jess have spent the last six years building their dream property themselves. In that time, they’ve hosted parties and music festivals, invited numerous people onto their property when they needed somewhere to stay, and helped anybody they could in any way they could. They are currently in the middle of a building project, with a daughter about to graduate high school and a child needing heart surgery was not in their plan.

As most of you probably know, Jason lost his dad last year. The entire family has had a rough time, and will be facing more stress in the next few months. We’d like to help them out by taking a little financial stress off of them during and after the surgery (Jess is definitely not going to want to cook and Jason probably shouldn’t be responsible for meals). We‘d also like to give them the opportunity to bring Zaria on a fun weekend trip once she’s healed up.
