Any unmet needs to the MonrealBrown family.

FAITH’S Has gone with the Angels . Our hearts are broken into pieces. There still has not been no arrest as of yet. The main for this gofundme was to help the family . Texas Crime Victims Assistance will not help no families of violent crime until arrest has been made. This is terrible. The law needs to change.

My name is Charlette Robinson. Faith Monreal is my oldest granddaughter. She’s a student within Hutto ISD, Williamson County, Texas. On December 12, 2021, her parents were waiting for her phone call to let them know she was ready to be picked up from an overnight stay at the home of a school mate she’s known for years. Both girls know each other’s parents and have visited each other’s homes. The original plan was for them to pick her up at noon, but she had called to ask if she could stay a little longer. Her friend’s parents needed to go somewhere and didn’t want their daughter to be at home alone.   Instead of receiving the call to pick Faith up, they received one that is every parent’s worst nightmare. The Hutto police phoned to tell them she had been shot and they needed to get to the hospital  Fast. They haven’t heard their daughter’s voice since that day. She has a bullet lodged in her brain that’s too dangerous to remove, and she’s been in an Intensive Care Unit in a medically induced coma since the 12th of December, 2021.

We still don’t know how this tragedy came about, but we will find out. For now, we’re dealing with the day-to-day struggle of holding the family together while Faith hangs on by a thread, fighting for her life.  Each day is a medical challenge with a team of specialized care givers working to stabilize her organs, operating on her brain to reduce the swelling, changing and readjusting multiple tubes, rotating her body so her muscles don’t completely atrophy, working on her circulation, checking body fluids, continuously assessing which medications work – or don’t, and the list goes on.  In short, relentlessly working to stabilize her organs so Faith can begin to live without the support systems that are keeping her alive so far. When she no longer needs the support systems, she will be able to enter another phase, that of rehabilitation. With God’s Will, expert medical care and non-stop prayers from friends and family, we are praying and waiting for a miracle. FAITH’S MIRACLE, because this is what she needs to survive this.

Faith comes from a loving, close-knit family where her parents, Mike and Vanessa Brown, work hard to care and provide for their four children, Trinity 13, Hayden 11, Carson 7, and of course, the eldest, Faith 15. The entire family is devasted by this tragedy and no one understands how a visit to a friend’s home resulted in their child/sibling being in this state. Watching them struggle with the sight of Faith, who, until recently, was unrecognizable because of the swelling, the scar from the operation to release pressure on the brain and the head bandages is an immense lesson in humility and gratitude. Because Faith is a minor and cannot be left alone in the ICU, her mom, Vanessa has taken an emergency medical leave of absence from her job to spend her time between the care of the three younger children and the time she spends with Faith at the hospital. I and other relatives take turns spending time with Faith or helping with the other children. It was while listening to the doctor explain what possibly lies ahead in terms of rehabilitation treatment and care that I realized the need of help from the community to survive this. Mike is an Independent Contractor and the loss of Vanessa’s salary while she’s on leave PLUS medical costs means they are headed for a financial disaster. We don’t know what the final medical costs will be, but what’s sure is that they will be tremendous. Which is why I decided to start this GoFundMe Fundraiser. Anything that you can donate will be appreciated.

Faith is a fighter. Despite the odds, she’s hanging on and I am reminded of her exuberance and love of life, her love of animals and her dreams of becoming a veterinarian. This is a painful, senseless tragedy, so I ask that if you have guns in your home, and if there are children present – regardless of their age – please, please make sure your guns are kept securely locked away.  I thank you for Faith and for her family and will post updates on her situation.  And of course, I thank you for your prayers.
