Bears, Books, and Building Resilience!

Starting next year, we are expanding our early childhood Social-Emotional program to meet the needs of our Child Welfare population. Many of our scholars have experienced trauma and instability already in their young lives. We are developing a "BEARS" program that allows kids to have a transitional object in order to develop a secure attachment in the absence of a stable, primary caregiver in their lives. Along with an individual Bear for each Pre-K and K student, we will be purchasing literature that reflects the unique experiences of our youngsters. For example, some titles include "Are You My Mother?" "Some Families are Different" and "The Goodbye Book." 

With the help of our families and friends, Haven Academy will be able to purchase the books and materials needed to launch this important program. Help us reach our goal of buiding the emotional support our scholars so desperately need.
