UPDATE: 3/1
To those who gave their support and helped spread the word about my mom's GofundMe. Please accept our most sincerest thank you’s! It’s so humbling yet inspiring when friends, acquaintances, even strangers band together in times such as these. Helping someone they may not personally know but feeling an innate desire to assist anyways. It’s truly uplifting. Thank from the bottom of our hearts. This will help pave the path to her new life and help her start building the foundation.
Thank you.

UPDATE: 2/29
thank you so much to everyone who has donated. I’m working on figuring out fundraising an event for my mom to help her replace household items for when she’s able to find a home or maybe get back into the apartment complex. Tomorrow 3/1 my grandpa and I will be searching for a storage unit. As for things she needs I made an Amazon Wishlist that I’ll continue to add to incase anyone is interested. That’s at the bottom of the GoFundMe by the photos and links. 3/7 she will be meeting with her MyChoice care team to brainstorm how we can help her and help with assistance as well as assisted devices. Especially, after her having a fall at my grandpas trailer due to being out of her environment and stairs are very hard for her. We need to focus on getting her somewhere accessible quickly especially since her fistula surgery for dialysis is scheduled for 3/12. We called Low Fixed income housing places and unfortunately there isn’t any opening at the moment.

Hi, my name is Alexis Galindo and I’m making this Go Fund me on behalf of my mother. February 19th 2024 my mom was waiting for her caregiver to come help with chores that are not accessible for her to complete. She suffered a stroke at the age of 30 and is currently undergoing end stage Kidney Failure along with several other health related disorders such as diabetes, charot foot and seizures.

Around 11:00am She realized she was having low blood sugar and pre heated her air fryer (Power AirFryer™ - 2 quart) and placed some onions rings in the air fryer and went to her dining room to drink a soda in hopes to bump up her sugars. She suddenly heard a loud pop and seen sparks and flames coming from the air fryer that had exploded and rushed to pull the fire alarm as quickly as she could. Her neighbors tried to aid her as best they could but by the time my mom could grab the extinguisher the entire apartment was flooded with thick black smoke. The Portage Fire Department came to aid the situation and safely get the other tenants out before anyone else got hurt.

Unfortunately, she lost both of her beloved kitties, Dewie (tiger striped) and Bogey (grey and white) due to the smoke inhalation and all of her belongings including medical equipment. She has just been released from the ER after completing an EKG and lung X-ray. Thankfully because of the help of her neighbors and fire department she was able to make it out alive and was stopped from going back in for her babies. She was very brave and strong getting out safely from her second story apartment especially with her physical limitations.

She is in contact with the Red Cross and was able to get a wheelchair from St Vinny’s. I want to thank the Portage Fire Department, Portage Police Department, and Aspirus EMS as well as the nurses and doctors at Aspirus Hospital for the life saving measures and being able to evacuate everyone safely and for saving my moms life, and aiding to her after the smoke inhalation. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to the emergency personnel who tried hard and tirelessly trying to save Dewie and Bogey. We are also grateful for Blystones Towing Company for supplying relief money to the Portage Fire Department that was able to help my mom get some clothes and shoes as well as food.
Thank you to Lodi Vet for being able to take my moms kitties on the spot for the cremation services.

With the loss of everything, my mom having nothing besides for the clothes on her back and the cost of cremation services for both of her babies… we are asking If anyone can please donate anything to her, both of us would be so grateful as she lost everything and does not have renters insurance. If there’s any physical donations please reach out to me on Facebook. If you are not able to donate, please share and spread awareness.
