Apollo's life changing treatment

First of all thank you for clicking the link to read our story.
We are trying to raise funds for treatment for our son Apollo as it is not covered by the NHS.
Apollo was born with a slight abnormality to his skull due to being born via forceps. In the following weeks we continued to have him checked and was repeatedly told that it’s something that should sort itself out.
In the coming months we continued to visit NHS doctors due to the abnormality to be continuously dismissed and told “wait until he’s 3 months old” and “wait until he’s 4 months old” and so on. He is now 6 months old and our concerns have still been dismissed.
We decided to follow our instincts and took him to see a private clinic in Leeds.
Almost instantly the doctor confirmed our fears and after scans and measurements were taken she confirmed that he was in fact now in the severe asymmetry category and needs immediate treatment.
Severe head shapes do not have time to improve on their own (as we were previously told) before the skull becomes too firm to change shape.
If untreated this can lead to impaired brain growth and developmental issues, which we are already seeing taking affect, hence us following our instincts and going private.
Treatment moving forwards consists of him needing to wear a helmet for a minimum of 5 months to aid his head to grow in the places it isn’t growing properly and to prevent any more abnormal growth in the places in which it’s grown too much.
In addition to this he will need physiotherapy to help build and repair the muscles in his neck as being born via forceps causes a strain on the neck, meaning it’s painful to lay on one side or turn to the left, resulting in his right side being favoured, so, over time it’s gradually made everything worse.
statistics for head shapes are as follows:
Normal head shape - 68%
Mild asymmetry - 27%
moderate severity - 4%
severe asymmetry - 1%
Apollo is in the 1% category and needs immediate treatment.
As you can see on the chart green in the normal head size/circumference of a babies head and Apollo is in the severe category where the cross is marked.
The total cost of treatment for the helmet alone is £2450.
We have raised a total of £950 so far so the remaining total is £1500 - due by the 30th October 2023.
I just want to stress that even if this was diagnosed by the NHS this treatment is not currently covered by the NHS at all, this is not the cost of private treatment this is the standard cost.
No donation is too small, every penny helps and if you can’t donate please share.
Thank you for getting this far and taking the time to read about our precious boy.
