Karla, de 53 años, se encuentra en tratamiento contra el cáncer de colón metastásico en Caracas, Venezuela, desde octubre de 2022. La familia Estrella ha asumido todos los gastos del tratamiento e hizo todo lo posible para no tener que recurrir a este medio, pero acontecimientos recientes nos han llevado a pedir ayuda.

CRONOLOGÍA DE SU TRATAMIENTO

Octubre 2022: Diagnóstico de carcinoma de colon derecho en estado IV, con metástasis en cerebro, hígado y pulmón. Con la metástasis cerebral, los médicos le dieron solo diez días de vida.

Noviembre 2022: Tratamiento quirúrgico en el colon y radioterapia en el cerebro.

Diciembre 2022: Inicio de quimioterapia.

Mayo 2023: Cirugía para tratar tres lesiones pulmonares.

Junio 2023: Debido a neuropatía periférica en manos y pies asociada al tratamiento de quimioterapia, se modificaron los medicamentos. Sin mejoría, se decidió suspender el tratamiento.

Julio 2023: Resultados negativos de la cirugía en los pulmones; se detectó una lesión activa en el pulmón izquierdo.

Agosto 2023: Se ajustó nuevamente el tratamiento de quimioterapia, pero la toxicidad neuropática persiste.

Enero 2024: Diagnóstico de metástasis en el hueso del codo izquierdo, que causó un dolor incapacitante. Se inició radioterapia, pero la movilidad en el codo sigue comprometida hasta el día de hoy.

Julio 2024: Karla comenzó a experimentar episodios de afasia del habla y pérdida de movilidad facial. Se suspendió temporalmente la quimioterapia. Durante un viaje a Panamá, los episodios se intensificaron.

Agosto 2024: Tras un viaje de emergencia a Venezuela, le diagnosticaron una lesión cerebral con edema significativo y comenzó radioterapia de inmediato.

También se detectó metástasis en las partes blandas del codo, las cuales requirieron radioterapia. Empezó tratamiento indefinido de inmunoterapia para las lesiones restantes.

Septiembre 2024: Karla fue hospitalizada por una neumonía provocada por la metástasis en los pulmones. Además, se le diagnosticó una trombosis en el brazo izquierdo, lo que ha causado una hinchazón extrema.

Actualmente, está en casa recibiendo tratamiento contra ambas afecciones, pero le resulta complicado recibir tratamiento intravenoso debido al pequeño tamaño de sus venas. Debido a su debilidad ha sufrido caídas inesperadas.

August 2024: After an emergency trip to Venezuela, she was diagnosed with a brain lesion with significant edema and began radiation therapy immediately. Metastases were also detected in the soft parts of the elbow, which will require radiotherapy. She has started indefinite immunotherapy treatment for the remaining lesions.

September 2024: Karla was hospitalized for pneumonia caused by metastasis in the lungs. In addition, she was diagnosed with thrombosis in her left arm, which has caused extreme swelling.
