Derik's Bond Fund For Asylum

Derik and I met a few years back while I was working with No More Deaths to put out water for migrants crossing the desert to reach the United States. We met in the Arizona desert and spent about a week together at the No More Deaths shelter/clinic. Throughout that time Derik shared with me that he had been experiencing a lot of violence and hardship in Honduras so he made the decision at 23 years old to come to the states in hopes of a change. Shortly after leaving the shelter to continue his journey north Derik was detained by border patrol and admitted to Florence Correctional Facility in Arizona. While in detention Derik has been keeping positive and fighting his case for political asylum on account of his experiences in Honduras. After 6+ months of being in detention Derik was granted a bond of $12,000. Derik doesn't have any family in the States so I told him I'd try my best to work on supporting him. Luckily we were able to get him out soon after this fundraiser started. We got in touch with a bond agency that had us pay 20% of the bond to get him out. But since we didn't pay the full amount Derik has to wear an ankle monitor and pay a fee of $410 per month that doesn't go towards the full 12,000 amount.  For this reason we are trying to fundraise the full amount.  Please donate what you can today so Derik can be released from the ankle monitor and so that we can show Derik he does have family and friends here in states that care about him. Derik y yo nos conocimos hace unos meses mientras yo estaba trabajando con No Más Muertes llevando agua, comida y ropa para los migrantes que cruzan el desierto para llegar a Estados Unidos. Nos encontramos en el desierto de Arizona y pasamos alrededor de una semana juntos en el refugio de No Más Muertes. Durante todo ese tiempo Derik me contó que había estado sufriendo un gran cantidad de violencia y dificultad en Honduras por lo que tomó la decisión a los 23 años de edad venir a los Estados Unidos con la esperanza de un cambio. Poco después de salir del refugio para continuar su viaje hacia el norte, Derik fue detenido por la patrulla fronteriza y ingresó a el establecimiento correccional en Arizona. Mientras que a estado en detención Derik ha mantenido positivo y a luchado su caso de asilo político a causa de sus experiencias en Honduras. Después de 6 meses de estar detenido Derik se le concedió una fianza de $ 12,000. Derik no tiene ninguna familia en los Estados así que le dije que iba a tratar mi mejor para trabajar en sacarlo.
