About Us

Canadian Islamic Cultural Society and Educational Center (CICSEC) represents our Muslim community in the city of New Westminster. It is a registered CRA non-profit society and gives tax-deductible receipts.

CICSEC was started in 2013 by a few Muslim brothers who got together to form an initial structure. Alhumdulillah, after we registered with City Hall, a Musallah was open officially in the heart of New Westminster with a temporary permit in the service of Ummah for all kinds of activities like

• Offering 5 times Salah

• Jummah Salah (150 + people)

• Quran Classes - Alhumdulillah 17 Hafiz have graduated from Musallah

• Congregations and the Dawah work in the path of Allah

• During Ramadan, we have daily Iftar dinner and perform Taraweeh from start to end.

Also, Musallah has opened doors to support refugees and worked for their welfare. We have given Taxi/Uber drivers access to after-hour prayers.

Our Vision

Our vision is to build the first Masjid in New Westminster for Muslims and people in the lower mainland. We have approached the city in the last 5 – 6 years to help us build a permanent place by providing multiple property options, and they refused to cite different obstacles.

Alhumdulillah, for the first-time city, has responded positively to a proposed property, 1108 5th Avenue, New Westminster. The city has directed us to put in an offer, and they assured us to help to rezone the property to our requirements. Property listing can be found: 1108 5th Ave New Westminster, BC

Plan of Action- The Proposal

Upon meeting with the local community and other Muslim organizations in the lower mainland, we decided that it was a rare opportunity and we should go ahead with acquiring this property.

This fundraising aims to formally appeal to Muslims across British Columbia to come forward and donate. Hence, we generate enough funds to make an offer on the subject property.
