Help Save Kildare Steiner School from Receivership

This fundraising campaign is created on behalf of the Kildare Steiner School community to help save the school from receivership.

Back in 2006 at the height of the Celtic Tiger, to expand the school, an additional building was built (currently the Primary School), and this was secured through a loan with a local Irish bank. All went well for some time, but by 2017, the school fell behind on the payments. The loan then was consequently sold to a vulture fund.

In 2020, there was a huge effort to settle the loan and as the agreement was about to be signed, the school entered a financially challenging period (COVID included), and the loan took a back seat.

This year, the current owner of the loan sent the school into receivership. The school has been negotiating with their servicer for several months now.

On 3rd September, the school received the last offer from the servicer on behalf of the loan owner. They have agreed to settle the loan for €80,000 to be paid in full and final within 12 months, subject to final approval from the loan owner (negotiations are still on-going for the final approval, funding structure and schedule of payment).

The Board of Management is delighted with the offer considering the outstanding loan amount is approximately €252,000 and is very grateful to both the servicer and loan owner for giving the school this opportunity to put this great burden behind (they have been really patient with the school during the past years).

Now the whole school community is invested in raising this amount in all possible ways, one of which is this fundraising campaign.
