I am asking for your help today so that I can continue my fight against multiple sclerosis (MS). Indeed, I received my diagnosis in March 2014 and after the shock of the news, I could say that my condition was still stable because I continued to work as a teacher 4 days a week. The pandemic arrived and my condition began to deteriorate from that moment on. The last year has been particularly difficult. I started the year walking with a cane, then I switched to two canes and finally, I have been using a walker since the fall. I had to do something and I finally found on the internet a Quebec company B-temia that offers an exoskeleton, the Keeogo, which allows people with difficulty walking to move more easily and longer. I did the administrative procédure and finally qualified for a 4-week trial. In summary, I could do 1000 steps a day with a cane or two, 3000 steps a day with the walker and now after 4 weeks with the Keeogo with the walker, I reached my goal of 7000 steps on December 16th. Now I have to acquire the device so that I can continue to increase my walking ability and in the long term, make the transition from the walker to the walking sticks, then walk with only one cane and finally, be able to move only with the Keeogo. We are talking here about a long process (around a year). A new device retails for $ 75,000 but the company provides me with a used one and I have to pay $ 30,000 to buy it. So I need your help to raise that amount! The goals are to recondition my legs and increase my endurance, regain autonomy and above all, postpone the day when I will need a wheelchair.
