Appreciation for Nursing Home Staff during COVID19

Catherine “Cathy” Diehl, 86, died peacefully at the Pine Valley Center for Rehabilitation & Nursing in Spring Valley, NY on April 4, 2020. She will be remembered by all for her sweetness, great cooking, sense of style, and quilting talent. She also had a sweet tooth and world class shopping abilities. She lived a life abundant in love, travel, good friends, celebrations, and family gatherings. Her greatest qualities were her kindness and generosity, but most especially, her unconditional love and pride for each and every family member.
A funeral mass will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to show their appreciation to the caring staff of the Pine Valley Center, particularly the staff on 3 West, for the great care they showed our mother during her time there. Our special thanks to Alicia Boykin, Director of Therapeutic Recreation, and Nurses Lune and Marva, for coordinating Zoom calls so that our family could say good-bye during her final days.
This page has been set up so that our mom’s nursing home can purchase more technology (I-Pads or tablets), allowing more families to communicate with their loved ones at Pine Valley during this crisis. Additional money raised can be spent on purchasing DVD players for the residents’ entertainment while they are in isolation, and to provide pizza and meals for the heroic Pine Valley staff who report to work every day under the most stressful of circumstances. While many healthcare workers in hospitals are being recognized today, we must not forget those who are on the front lines in our nation’s nursing homes, caring for and comforting our most vulnerable population, the elderly.
To the entire staff at Pine Valley Center for Rehabilitation & Nursing in Spring Valley, NY, thank you for being both heroes and angels.
We are grateful to all who donate.
In deepest appreciation,
The Family of Catherine “Cathy” Diehl
