Family and Friends,
Many of you know Erwin Ocampo as one of the strongest, most determined, family-loving husbands and father to two young daughters. If you’ve never met him, Erwin’s charisma and kind heart win you over immediately (he’ll make sure of it haha). Jessie and Erwin Ocampo are very private people but have given us permission to share his story.
Last month, at the incredibly young age of 30, Erwin was diagnosed with stage four colon cancer. He immediately had surgery on his colon to have a tumor removed. While in surgery they removed a piece of tumor on the outside of his liver to biopsy. Unfortunately, the biopsy results and CT scan have shown that the cancer has now spread to the liver. Erwin, Jessie, and their doctors have come up with a plan to combat this cancer and they continue to be optimistic about the fight ahead. Erwin began his bi-monthly chemotherapy treatment this week and the family is staying strong and positive.
For those of you who don’t know, Jessie and Erwin had a baby girl this year. Yes, they had a baby in a pandemic! They have both already used most of their PTO for the birth of their beautiful baby girl, so eventually they’ll have to take unpaid days off from work to deal with any treatments or sickness that arises.
We want to raise these funds for the family so they don’t have to make a choice between a paycheck and caring for each other. We all know how strong Jessie and Erwin’s work ethic is and they plan to continue working throughout treatment. However, we don’t want Erwin to stress about going to work on days when he’s not feeling well, or Jessie to have to choose between teaching and helping Erwin. Any donations will help with family and health care and allow Jessie and Erwin to spend invaluable time with each other and their daughters during this tough time.
We are aware of the financial stress brought on by the last few months and completely understand if you cannot donate. Just keeping this special family in your thoughts and prayers will be very much appreciated.
