To help with funeral expenses for April Barfield

Our loving friend, coworker and most devoted mom to her 21-year-old daughter Alyssa, was killed in that tragic car accident yesterday in Waterboro while she was on her way to work. We are trying to raise money to help her daughter Alyssa and her family with funeral expenses.
April has been a Medical Assistant who has worked in Oncology for over 17 years. She has most likely taken your loved ones' vital signs, held their hand, hugged and loved them like they were her family at Maine Health Cancer Care in South Portland on our Hematology team for the last two years. April previously worked for NECS and MMP Surgical Oncology. April was also faithful about donating blood and platelets as she never wanted to see patients struggle during shortages. See, April was always giving of herself to others. She helped complete our work family. April loved to help plan a party for each of us on her team!
April was as loyal as possible; she uplifted staff every day by sending her "shiny stars" to thank another team member. April would go out of her way to make sure that any new person was never alone and that they felt welcome.
She was hysterical. She had a loud laugh that might startle you when you first heard it! After that, you would always laugh no matter where you were in the office. April's friend and coworker Heidi remembered some Aprilisms, "I love it every day and twice on Sunday," and was always about something she hated, like calling insurance companies! "I can't like it," "Love you long time," "hey, nursies," She also taught her copartner Sam at work to always eat the corner piece of the cake as it has the most frosting. She would walk by my office every morning mumbling "mmmm boss with a peace sign".
April would glow when she talked about Alyssa, and she was so proud of you!!!! April loved her family more than anything in the world. She would show off pictures of her daughter and her nephew! April always spoke of her mom and sister and her friends in the county. Always taking orders for our fresh potatoes! Seeing how happy April has been the past two years has been incredible; she found love with Phil.
I will end with this as I believe her best friend Mary said it best "April was loyal, funny, sassy and always told the truth! She was the life of the party! She loved her super snacks at work! She wasn't a morning person. April made everyone laugh, especially with her laugh. She was the Thelma to my Louise. April was the bestest friend a girl could ask for." April loved Patti Collins and Mary McIntyre like sisters.
