April Hubbard's Living Funeral

For anyone who doesn't know April, she is an incredible Human being. She has spent her life fighting to do all of the things she loved from acting to midwifery to supporting other artists (in so many ways), to being an incredible, vocal advocate for those with disabilities. All of this while slowly fighting a losing battle with her body.

She has been on the journey of accessing MAID (Medical Assistance In Dying) for the past year and as she nears the final stretch her biggest hope is to have time with friends and family. Unfortunately her health has severely limited her ability to do so. Now she dreams of having a living funeral. a celebration where everyone in her community can come together not only to say goodbye but to celebrate, to perform, to tell stories. She has felt this was out of reach but with some help from you I hope to make it a reality for her. The biggest expenses are a venue rental (likely a beloved theatre space) which would also require hiring a house technician, and ASL interpreter to help make the event accessible to her whole community, and maybe some refreshments.

Anyone who wishes to offer thier talents or skills to perform or participate in anyway is welcome, and not at all required.

The official date is TBA but we are hoping for September. I'll add information as it becomes available It will be held in Halifax, NS.
