Help Aptitutor give educational grants with 501c

Our names are Melissa Dai and Cynthia Rajeshkanna, two high school students from Massachusetts. In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, we sought to aid the community, but we didn’t know how. We were just two high schoolers; what could we possibly do to help? We couldn’t work on the frontlines, and we certainly didn’t have the expertise to develop a vaccine.

At the same time, we were participating in our school’s online learning initiative as a direct result of school closure. It came to our attention that with the shift to shorter online classes, students weren’t receiving the thorough, comprehensive education that full-length, in-person classes offer. On top of that, free supplemental education was not readily accessible.

We quickly realized that the lack of free academic support wasn’t something that the pandemic induced; year-round, students do not have access to the supplemental education that they could benefit from. Seeking to give back to the community in a time of need while addressing a long-term educational issue, we created Aptitutor.

Aptitutor is a nonprofit Boston-based FREE online tutoring service and learning platform. Aptitutor is tailored to connect qualified high school tutors to K-12 students that are seeking aid with various academic subjects. We are dedicated to providing free supplemental education to all, connecting K-12 students that desire academic support to qualified high school tutors. Aptitutor aims to foster a comfortable, fun learning community where students can grow as learners. Above all, we want students to have access to valuable educational assistance at no cost.

Currently, it is just the two of us trying to launch Aptitutor in our local community, though we hope to eventually spread nationwide. We need YOUR help! If you feel the same way that we felt, if you want to contribute to the community, if you want to help all children have access to free educational support, then make a donation however small or large. Every penny counts.

Here’s a specific list of what our funds will go to:

1.) Educational grants for students and teachers that require financial aid to carry out their educational endeavors. For example, a teacher may apply for a grant to buy books for their classroom if the school lacks sufficient funding. In a similar manner, a student may apply for a grant if they are working on a project, but they lack the financial resources to purchase materials.

2.) 501c status to become an official nonprofit organization in the state of Massachusetts so that we can legally accept open donations to provide more educational grants without being taxed.
