To our dear Friends of King,
On Monday evening we closed our doors and laid off our team. 30 of our colleagues, closest friends, band members, wine buffs and line-mates are unemployed and vulnerable.
Without any idea how long we'll be closed, and with no commitment of government relief, we’re turning to you to help provide security to our restaurant family.
100% of donations go directly to our laid off team: the beautiful heart that pumps life into our restaurant each day.
Love and thanks

Thank you for your incredible generosity. Here's our plan:
- We're using unemployment insurance benefits provided by the government as a rough template for disbursement. The process, subject to minor and transparent adjustment, will be as follows:
- We're distributing these funds to employees that are considered "hourly" and to managers who are not owners of the restaurant.
a. We will calculate each hourly employee's weekly wages based on, the maximum of, their last four weeks of wages summed and divided by four, or their last two weeks of wages summed and divided by two.
b. We will then sum all of the hourly employees weekly wages, calculated according to part a. This will be used as the denominator in the calculation of each employee's share of the total funds raised in this fundraiser.
c. Each employee's share of this fundraiser will be calculated as part a divided by part b.
d. We will withhold any taxes, etcetera that our lawyer deems necessary. If those taxes end up being waved or not payable we will disburse those funds according to part c.
- We'll be distributing the money though mailed checks as our staff are no longer on payroll.
