Aquagrom 2024 - Kids raising money for Surfrider Foundation

Hi everyone! My name is Alia Marriner, and I love the ocean so much! Last year I started something called the Aquagrom. The Aquagrom is a fundraiser, where kids unite to help preserve our local oceans. A grom is a kid that surfs, skims, or is always going to the beach. On July 13th, all of the Aquagroms will swim and walk from Crescent Bay to Victoria Beach. But not only are we swimming, we are raising money for the Surfrider Foundation! The Surfrider Foundation is a national organization that helps our oceans in so many ways. They are focused on finding natural solutions to climate change, keeping our air clean, and reducing plastic pollution. If it wasn't for Surfrider, there would be a giant sea wall at Rock Pile beach! This event is so important to me, because I love the water! Beaches and oceans are such a big part of my life, and all these other groms' lives too. It is important to support organizations like Surfrider that are making sure that our local beaches stay clean and safe for years to come. This year will be the second year of the Aquagrom, and we hope that the Aquagrom will be an event for many more years. Help us show the community that we care about protecting the our coastline.
