Backpacks For Life
Donation protected
Backpacks For Life is a startup non-profit that aims to serve the homeless veteran community. With YOUR help we will be able to provide homeless veterans with backpacks filled with toiletries, clothing and other resources to help them get on their feet again. Any donation, big or small, will help go towards the supplies that make up these backpacks and give homeless veterans a second chance!
Brett’s Story
“After returning from a 7-month tour in Afghanistan with the US Marine Corps. I worked at my unit in Providence, RI for a month. One day on my way to work I saw a homeless man holding a sign that read ‘Homeless Veteran’ and I couldn’t help but think of that man for the rest of the day. Later that afternoon I returned to my hotel and filled my backpack from my tour with warming layers, socks and t-shirts. I went back to find that man and gave him the backpack. The next morning on my way into work, I saw the man but this time with a small child wearing the backpack proudly. I stopped to say hello and the homeless man explained to me that his wife had become very sick and the warming layers were helping her tremendously in the homeless shelter. His son also told me how cool he felt to finally have a backpack to bring his supplies to school in. It was in this moment that I knew I wanted to help others get back on their feet and give them a second chance at life.”
