Arabic Study Abroad in Morocco

Hi, my name is Clara and I'm fundraising to study abroad for four weeks this summer with the CIEE Arabic Language & Moroccan Culture program in Rabat, Morocco!

I started studying Arabic in school three years ago, because one of my best friends is a native Arabic speaker. I fell in love with the language, and the beautiful people and cultures it gave me access to. Growing up exposed to Hebrew made learning Arabic much easier, as they share much of their grammar and vocabularies. This connection to both languages, their speakers, and their associated religions/cultures, has uniquely situated me to build bridges across religious and ethnic divides. That kind of activism and diplomacy is something I hope to continue engaging in in the future, and this program is the perfect opportunity to bring my Arabic skills to a place where I can really do that. Through full immersion into the Arabic language- taking intensive classes, living in a home-stay with a local family, and embarking on cultural outings- I will gain invaluable experience in using Arabic outside of the classroom setting, to navigate the real world!

The base tuition for this program is $6,250 (excluding airfare) and I received a $1,500 Global Navigator Scholarship from CIEE . However, the flights alone cost nearly as much as I received in merit and financial aid. I would greatly appreciate any and all help in making this dream a reality!
