Arab LGBTQ Activists Retreat Summit

We are a group of independent Arab LGBTQ activists located in the United States and Canada. We are working to mobilize our community in the diaspora to continue the fight against homophobia in the Arab world, and for a safer world for everyone.

The money will be used for travel expenses. The Retreat will be held in Rehoboth, Delaware, through a generous offer to use a venue there in mid August. We need the funds to be complete by the end of this month, July, so we can book cheaper airfares.

Supporting us will be a dream come true. We are starting with 15 participants from 12 different Arab countries, and look forward to continue growing. 

The Retreat is the first of its kind. Most participants have fled the Arab world due to persecution or wars over the past 5 years. It is a chance for us to rebuild our frontlines and continue the fight against homophobia.

How?
The Retreat will gather experienced and passionate participants to network, share knowledge, and exchange ideas on diverse themes, including: 

1) LGBTQ Refugees & Asylum Seekers
2) Supporting Activism in the Arab World
3) LGBTQ Sexual & Public Health in the Arab World
4) Talking to the Media as LGBTQ Arabs

The participants will draw upon their own experiences to discuss these themes, and build a resource for the LGBTQ community.
