Arcadia's Xmas Campaign for Firesticks Alliance
Donation protected
This year our staff made the collective decision to forgo our generous staff Christmas gifts and donate money to help prevent future catastrophic bushfire events in Australia.
We will be donating to the Firesticks Alliance, an Indigenous led organisation which aims to re-invigorate the use of cultural burning to enhance ecosystem health.
‘Cultural burning’ describes burning practices developed by Aboriginal people to enhance the health of the land and its people.
It is for the health of particular plants and animals such as native grasses, emu, black grevillea, potoroo, bushfoods, threatened species or biodiversity in general. Cultural burning may involve patch burning to create different fire intervals across the landscape or it could be used for fuel and hazard reduction.
Your donation will help the Firesticks Alliance provide cultural learning pathways that enable and empower Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal communities to work collectively towards resilient landscapes. More information about the work they do can be found here.
