Archaeology fieldwork: Pompeii
Donation protected
Hello! As many of you already know I am a graduate archaeology student at the University of Missouri, Columbia. I have been awarded $1500 by my department to participate in fieldwork this summer. This is an amazing opportunity to work at a famous archaeological site: Pompeii, Italy. However, he grant from my department will not cover all of my expenses and it is too late in the season to apply for other grants (the permission for this field school was not given until very recently). As such, I am reaching out to family and friends to ask for help in funding my research. I have never before had the chance to work in the field in this capacity and I am excited to truly begin my career in archaeology!
Through archaeology we can learn about the people who lived before us in a way that was never written down. Pompeii presents a rare window into the past lives of Romans in 79 AD. I honestly believe learning about the human past can give us insight into who we are today. One of my biggest goals is to spend my career bringing archaeology to the public and in light of this I intend to use this experience to start building guest lectures appropriate for introducing K-12 students to archaeology. I will also be sharing this experience with everyone via Facebook!
If you can help I will use the money donated to cover my lodging expenses, in country transportation costs, supplies, and food.
The field school takes place during most of the month of June so I will need my expenses covered by May at the latest.
Please know that I am extremely grateful for any and all help in funding my research. I absolutely understand if you can't help me out financially but even sharing this campaign would be greatly appreciated! Thank you all for your support.
