"They say that Honesty is the best policy...is it?"
I took a long time to mature, and I've spent more than the last decade paying for it. Since the time I finally decided to grow up (3/1/2002)...I've lost a lot.
I got married, had a beautiful daughter and then lost her through a bitter divorce. I haven't been the same since. The years following were a slow degradation of my self-esteem and identity. In the past year in particular; I had to move from Seattle, where I had lots of work and opportunity, but no support and could not afford the notoriously high rent alone--back to California where I have been without stable work since. I am in poor health [see attached] and can't handle the Valley heat either. Since getting back to CA, I've lost my pets, my Dad passed in December and my son hung himself in March.
This last year has broken me. Between the chronic homelessness, a lack of sleep and the constant lethargy associated with depression and stress... <sigh>...
In Feb. of 2013, I set off for Seattle, WA. For the next four years, I semi-prospered. I worked at Safeway for a bit, Microsoft for 2 years and then the rest of my time I worked as a CSR for a Pizza company. When I left, against my better judgment (Seattle rent is outrageous), I left with zero debt (debt accumulated while there) ...which is a big deal for me.
Since I've been back in California's Central Valley...my life has been hell. A lack of family/friends/support doesn't even begin to describe my situation. "Desperation", get's close. I'm only 39...but I'm very tired. I do not want to become another statistic, but I'm at the end of my rope.
About a month an a half ago I received a letter from the State of California notifying me that I was finally eligible for a license. After much begging and pleading and the assistance of a long-lost and long-distance friend; I finally have my license and for the first time in my life, I can legally drive. Needless to say, this opens many doors for me, not previously available. This brings me to why I'm here.
Seattle's rent is too expensive and California is my personal hell. I'm dead-set on a last-ditch-effort in Portland. To move my stuff and me to Portland and secure two months of rent/bills money (long enough to get a job there), I have an over-estimated need of 5.5k. This would be money for a Uhaul, Gas, Rent/Deposit for 2 months, deposits for utilities and a few bucks 'cushion'.
Once I obtain the money, any and all help securing a place to live in Portland, as well as a place to work, would be greatly appreciated. I have a Resume' available upon request. I have a very-part-time job that I will continue to work remotely once I get there.
As stated before..life has not been kind. I have my stuff safely stored and I work a gig making a few globes a month. Just enough to keep my phone on and myself fed. The heat here is already more than I can safely handle...I need to leave A.S.A.P. No later than the end of May or I risk losing my personal belongings.....not a lot of time...I know.
If you, personally, cannot help then I implore you to please share my campaign with others and please help give me a chance to get to a place where I can help myself. Please, give me the chance to reach my personal dreams and goals...like writing at least one book if not a small series.
*For those interested in what those books might entail, please feel free to view My Research .
I thank you for reading this, and I hope you can help, are willing to share my story, and can help me find Peace...Peace Profound.
