Dom here in this picture after battling the fire, my mom up above in front of what was her home in Altadena.
In the face of these overwhelming losses, we need your help.
For years, I have dedicated myself to helping others, from supporting women at the House of Ruth domestic shelter to aiding children in Kenya with education and even providing a cow to a school in a Kenyan village. I’ve also been a part of our local churches, serving and giving back to the community that I LOVE. Now, my own community is in desperate need, and I’m turning to you for help.
Hello to whoever is reading this. This is Dom and wanted to share what I experienced. Altadena has been my home for 39yrs seen fire after fire. There was no support. The fire department was totally unprepared. I left my home at 5am watching Marathon rd. engulf inflames after trying to save my home and all my neighbors homes. I battled flames the entire night waiting for rescue to come to my scene and I never did see one firefighter show up to our neighborhood. I don't understand. I noticed I lost water pressure just around 0445am. I have many unanswered questions. Where was the fire Dept at during this horrifying fire. I was putting out fires with shovels and garden hoses. All I needed was a little HELP.
We could’ve saved our homes.
I promised my 75 yrs old mother I wouldn't let her home burn and I failed. A message to my community and my neighborhood I deeply feel your pain.
Thank you to everyone whos reached out to us and offered us some help. Means a lot!
