The support of ARES, both moral and financial, from so many neighbors and friends, has been vital for us to continue pushing forward. My sincerest gratitude goes out to each of you who’ve reached out and aided us, as this has been a most humbling experience; to continue the work we do, yet see such large reductions in revenue. Make no mistake about it, we are here and have been able to maintain our operation despite these circumstances, because our community came through strongly for us in our time of need!
Your generous donations, both in-store and online, were a lifeline during our hardest of challenges. Like many other businesses, our retail thrift store has struggled to make ends meet throughout the pandemic. Fewer people are making it out to shop in-person and overall are spending less. Despite a small amount of government assistance for small businesses, we are still feeling the prolonged and sustained effects of the economic impacts over the past 18 months.
Your help is still needed (for those who are able)! Our emergency account has been depleted at this point. Your donation today will directly aid us in replenishing this essential fund. It’s simply not responsible for us to continue, without this key financial element in place.
We are looking to raise $20,000 to secure our future. In addition, we kindly request you consider offering any higher-end, brand name or new-in-package items towards a Special Benefit Auction we will be hosting here at ARES on December 10th. Please donate this month Thur-Sat 12-5pm and mention this message, so your items may be considered for our auction. They also may go directly to the sales floor to help us raise much-needed funds. ➡️

We have reevaluated and adjusted our vision of ARES based on the new economy- which is both globally and locally less predictable. We’ll need your help more than ever to offset upcoming costs in early 2022, to remain viable in the future. With you as a partner, we can succeed in continued charitable efforts and offering low-cost, Earth-friendly shopping options for our community!
Additionally, we take pride in being a welcomed alternative for our workers vs. the often cold, faceless corporate model that so many are seeking to transition from. And we believe our community is strengthened through its smaller, more personal businesses!
We believe that so many of you have supported us over the years because you see the value and uniqueness of our local shop. We offer a supportive work environment for our staff and volunteers, we are a female-led & operated small business that provides the flexibility and compassion that many workers are lacking in this present moment.
