Arewà’s Gender Affirming FFS Recovery fund

The last several years has been filled with some beautiful highs and some extreme lows. Everyday I am learning more about myself, and I am immensely grateful for all that I have learned. This journey has allowed me to step more confidently into my purpose, and in doing so, I have a deeper trust in the universe and that which is out of my control. I desire to grow unapologetically stronger in my truth and this continues with gender-affirming care.
Before I started seeking gender affirming healthcare last year, I had almost convinced myself that for some reason I didn’t deserve to feel affirmed. I believe in everyone’s right to live authentically in their truth, but I did not see it for myself until a loved one quite literally said “You are always taking care of community. It’s time to let community take care of you.” Well, darling, the skies parted and the sun beamed down on me—in that moment I knew that I was being affirmed in more ways than I could imagine.
After doing some research into facial feminization surgery I scheduled a consultation. At first I was skeptical and unsure if FFS is was what I needed, but it became evident during and after my consultation that this procedure is what wanted. I learned I could have a surgery confirmed for early January, but in light of some schedule openings [and divine timing] I will be having my gender affirming surgery the second week in October. The universe continues to work magical and mysterious ways.
I am overjoyed, over the moon, and quite honestly overwhelmed, but overall I feel reassured by the path that I am on. My insurance is covering the majority of the costs for the procedure, but post-surgery recovery will significantly limit my ability to work. So I turn to community asking for help. Consider giving whatever you have the means to give and know any contribution, big or small, would be immensely appreciated.
