Our little Aria Rose just celebrated her first birthday. While this is usually a joyous time filled with many happy memories, our family has been heartbroken and in constant prayer.
Aria had an "episode" and stopped breathing. She was brought by ambulance to Essentia health in Duluth where she underwent testing to determine the cause. It was found that her Heart and Liver were enlarged. Her "episodes" were more like mini heart attacks.
Aria was airlifted to Childrens Hospital in Minneapolis, MN to endure further testing. She has suffered heart attacks, a stroke caused by a bloodclot from her heart, blood transfusions, a lung infection, and a collapsed lung, cardiac arrest, cpr for over an hour, ecmo cannulas in her neck and surgery to her chest, pacemaker, heart cath etc.
This past weekend on June 7th we almost lost our precious girl again when she went into heart failure. The Dr's performed CPR for over an hour and Aria was placed on ecmo to bypass her heart and lungs while they tried to figure out the next step. The most recent diagnosis is hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
The ecmo machine malfunctioned and caused even greater damage to the heart. Her doctors felt she needed even more care than they could give and June 1oth she was airlifted again to Mayo in Rochester, MN.
After arriving in Rochester she was awake and happy and the doctors told her mom that she could possibly come off of the ecmo machine the following day. However tragedy struck again when she was being turned. The ecmo machine was not in properly and the tube was ripped out of a major artery. She was rushed into emergency surgery. At this time she is still on an ecmo machine directly to her heart as well as a pace maker.
Aria is currently on the waiting list nation wide for a new heart. She will be in the Mayo hospital until that miricle heart comes for her, and for several months afterward. Aria will also have many doctors visits and expensive medications for the remainder of her life.
Aria's dad was laid of in 2014 and struggled on unemployment, only recently getting back to work. Without being able to "catch up" from this, they are now facing even more costs as the trip to the hosptial is 226 miles and with all the unexpected emrgancies, he has been missing many days at work. The trips to Mayo will continue for several upcoming months as Aria fight continues.
Aria's dad did not want his family to put this on go fund me, because he said it is not about the money, it is about Aria. However our family knows they are in need of some extra funding to make the frequent trips between work, home with Aria's two big brothers and the hospital Aria is now at. Aria is a strong little girl, regardless of everything her little body has been through, her will and desire to live has overcome the impossible. We hope and pray for more miracles! She is not giving up, and neither is anyone else!
Aria has an amazing mom who has been with her every step and dad who has made many sacrifices to be with his baby girl every possible moment. Please continue to pray along with any donations you are able to give. We appreciate prayers at this point, because that’s what she needs the most!! Please help us meet our goal and help our family in a time of great need.
Thanks and GOD BLESS
