Help Ariel remain UNSTOPPABLE against Thyroid Cancer
Donation protected
As many of you know, my sister Ariel Hansen, was diagnosed with Metastatic Thyroid Cancer late last year after battling numerous health scares that began in January 2024. On February 4th, 2025 the amazing surgeons at University of Iowa Hospitals started what was expected to be an 8 hour surgery to remove her Thyroid. Once they were able to see inside, they found the cancer was worse then expected...the surgeon described the size of the tumor as "massive" (4 inches in length, approximately 3cm in diameter), that had wrapped around her right laryngeal nerve & vocal cord. They spent another 2 hours finding numerous lymph nodes that were affected, leading to a 10 hour surgery. She spent the next 5 days inpatient and was discharged home less her thyroid & both Parathyroid glands on the right side, a whisper of a voice, & 3 drainage tube's that made her look like something from a horror movie! This was a super scary surgery as she has a clotting disorder & naughty veins which required port placement prior to the surgery.
Because the cancer had spread to her lymph nodes, she starts the next battle to kill this demon the week of April 14th, with trips to Iowa City for labs, scans, & intense radiation therapy that will require hospitalization for observation.
Her husband Brett works as a CNA/Med Manager at Rotary Senior Living and is currently their only source of income until Ariel can recover and return to work as a Para at Eagle Grove Community Schools.
With their permission, I am starting this GoFund me page to help cover travel & lodging costs during her treatment, medical bills, & just...survival.
We are a strong & independent family and are usually the helpers but this time we need your help...financially, in addition to the continuous love & prayers everyone has given.
