Ariel’s Treatment Program
Donation protected
Hi everyone! My name is Carley, I’m fundraising for my dear friend Ariel. She has struggled with her mental health over the years and is finally able to get the help she needs. She has been taking all the necessary steps given to her by her healthcare team for years but now she has the opportunity to advance her level of care by getting admitted for quality treatment out of state. Her primary diagnoses are borderline personality disorder, depression, and anxiety.
Her story: “I have several mental health diagnoses that affect my daily life routines. I have been going to therapy once to twice a week and have monthly med adjustments due to my diagnoses, and I have also been hospitalized in Iowa before. My healthcare team believes that the next step for me is to be sent to a residential treatment facility for mood disorders out of state that excels in the type of specialized care I need. With that being said, treatment will be a minimum of $7,500 plus at least six to eight weeks of missed wages.
Before I get to treatment I have to have at least one surgery on my stomach related to repeated episodes of vomiting blood likely due to anxiety not being addressed as thoroughly as needed. This will also add onto the medical bills and I will be paying out of pocket the maximum amount for my insurance for the year.
My healthcare team has suggested quality inpatient before but I have never done it because of the cost. Right now the decision is that I need to go regardless to keep me safe and help me move forward.”
Ariel’s mental health impacts her life in the following ways: nausea/vomiting (lost almost 50 pounds in the last year from vomiting), mild to severe shaking, hyperventilating, self harm and suicide urges, blacking out, memory loss, insomnia, exhaustion, attention span issues, inability to leave the house, unstable relationships, and high-risk behavior.
Her family and friends are affected by her diagnoses as well and one of her goals is to make improvements for them. It can be very hard for her loved ones to communicate with her, thus making it hard to effectively help. Her loved ones have moments of extreme concern for her health, and would do anything to see her be as happy and healthy as possible.
Ariel is such a kind and generous woman and always puts others first. We want her to be able to give her best and to live a long and healthy life without the constant fear of losing herself. All our close friends and family are wanting to allow Ariel to just relax her mind and live in the moment, with both her mind and body in a safe environment.
We're asking for your help to raise funds to help cover her medical costs so Ariel can focus on healing. We need to raise $12,000 to cover the cost of surgery, inpatient care and the associated medical expenses. Your donations will help us cover the cost of the surgery, medication, and allow Ariel to work round the clock with a mental health team focused entirely on her. Any amount you can give, no matter how small, will make a difference.
We understand that times are tough for everyone, but please know that your donation will go a long way in helping her finally get the level of help she needs without the financial burden continuing to hold her back and cause further stress. We're counting on the kindness and generosity of strangers to help us in this time of need. Your donation could truly help change her life.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story. Please share this campaign with your friends and family, and donate if you can. We're forever grateful for your support.
