Dear friends and family,
We come to you today both with heavy hearts and with deep appreciation for the love and support we have received throughout the years. We are united to honor the memory of our beloved Son, Brother, Nephew, Grandson, and Cousin, Armand Ewusie, who left us far too soon at the age of 27 on October 20, 2023. Armand's life was a story of unyielding resilience and unwavering love, but it was also a story marked by a relentless battle against epilepsy.
At the age of 19, Armand's life took an unexpected turn when he was diagnosed with epilepsy, just as he was on the cusp of a promising baseball career. Armand was not just a talented player; he was a top-tier, 5-tool athlete who had secured a scholarship to play baseball at a Division 1 junior college in Colorado, USA. His future was bright, and his family's pride knew no bounds.
However, epilepsy had other plans for Armand. After returning from his first year of college, he began to experience seizures that changed the trajectory of his life. His dreams of pursuing baseball were abruptly halted, and the lives of those who loved him were forever altered.
Unable to pursue a second year of college, Armand and his family embarked on a challenging journey of understanding and managing his condition. This once adventurous, joyful, extremely funny and carefree young man was now caused to cautiously navigate a world that most of us take for granted. Simple activities like driving a car or taking his treasured dog for a walk became fraught with the constant fear of seizures.
Armand faced this adversity with optimism and hope, but as time passed, the severity of his condition escalated, and no medication seemed to provide relief. Sadly, he was unaffected by every available treatment, and the medications he tried had profound effects on his mental and physical well-being.
Armand's epilepsy was rare and complicated, characterized by bi-lateral temporal lobe epilepsy, which not only affected his physical health but also his emotions and stability. He and his family explored every avenue, from natural remedies like a costly Kangen water machine to specialized diets, supplements, and alternative treatments. Armand was a relentless researcher, exploring his condition and seeking answers through books, the internet, and any available resource.
Despite the challenging path he was on, Armand remained strong and resilient, always striving to be a wonderful friend, family member, and inspiration to anyone he met. He refused to let his condition define him, and he continued to strive to live a fulfilling life despite of his challenging condition, exploring the city on his bicycle, camping with loved ones, attending his Brother's baseball games with his Dad, indulging his passion for cars with his best friends, hiking with his family and beloved dog, as well as extending kindness and love to everyone he encountered.
Armand was a very passionate advocate for showing and speaking of unconditional love, and he lived by that principle every day. He was a Spiritually Gifted Old Soul, who had many profound and extraordinary experiences in his dreams, with his Family, and with random people everywhere. Everyone felt the soothing warmth of his Bright Light.
As the years went by, Armand was fortunate to have a support system that included loving friends and family, but despite their unwavering support, his seizures grew worse and more frequent, impacting his memory and leaving gaps in his life story.
On October 20, 2023, Armand's battle with epilepsy came to an end, leaving us with a permanent void in our lives.
Support Needed:
Since being diagnosed with epilepsy, Armand's living expenses had far exceeded his disability income causing him and his family to be chronically, financially, and physically distressed preventing him from experiencing the simple joys of life that most of us consider normal. In addition to the emotional burden, his family is now faced with the financial responsibility of a celebration of life, cremation, and the creation of a memorial bench in his memory at Little Mountain Little League Park where he began his baseball journey.
We kindly ask for your support to help us celebrate Armand's life and honor his memory. Any contribution, no matter how small, will go a long way in easing the financial strain and ensuring that the rich legacy of Armand's short life remains vibrant in our hearts and minds forever. Your support will help us honor the remarkable person Armand was and allow his spirit to continue inspiring those who knew him.
In memory of Armand and in support of his enduring message of unconditional love, we ask for your help. Thank you for being a part of Armand's short journey and continued presence. Thank you for accompanying us in passage of this difficult time.
With Love and Gratitude,
Armand’s Beloved Family
