Support Armando On His Road To Recovery

Donation protected
Over the last 2.5 month, Armando and the Barragan Family have been through a living nightmare. On August 24, 2023 Armando was rushed to the hospital with severe abdominal pain and admitted into the Hazel Hawkins ICU for gallstones, acute pancreatitis, colitis, serve pain and erratic vital. After two weeks, he was sent home to continue his recover. Armando attempted to resume normal life with family and work while recovering, however he continued to feel unwell and weak. He took a turn for the worst on September 11, 2023 buckling over in pain, his family rushed him to the Salinas Valley Hospital where he was admitted for the 2nd time in 2.5 weeks. Over the next couple days, he became very ill and was transferred to the ICU. Diagnosed with sepsis Armando was septic and one of the unlucky 5.7% of 100,000 people to pass a gallstone that impact the pancreatic duck causing biliary pancreatitis and all the complications that come along with it.

From this day forward for approx. 1.5 months Armando was in a fight for his life. He found himself off and on the ventilator 3-4 times, had to endure multiple procedures to remove fluid build from his pancreas that leaked into his body around his abdomen, heart, lungs and also caused huge fluid filled cysts where they would drain multiple liters of fluid. He was in need of specialty medical attention and waited for a transfer to Stanford which he was finally granted on September 22nd for monitoring, and multiple surgeries in order to save his life and get him on the road to recovery.

We are happy to say that Armando beat the odds and is now in the recovery process. He is weak from his illness and long hospital stay. Currently going though physical therapy to regain his strength to be able to walk and gain back his independence. Armando and his family have taken an emotional and financial hit due to this unexpected illness. His wife has had to take off work to be by his side while driving back and forth to Stanford to care for Armando and their two younger children in Hollister. Armando has also been out of work and will continue to be until his body heals and recovers.

He is a loving husband, father of three kids two of which are school aged. Armando is well known and loved in his community of Hollister which he has lived most of his life and volunteered as a coach in youth sports. He has been a staple in the community of Salinas where he is the Facility Director for Salinas (California) Storm Girls Fastpitch since 2005. Armando has made numerous sacrifices in his personal life to be to make sure that youth softball and adult softball always have a place to decompress and tournaments to play in. He always has a smile on his face and a witty sense of humor with a “never let them see you sweat attitude”. He is always willing to help others and I have never heard him ask for support. That is the reason why we are putting this page together because right now he needs the support and we know he would never ask. We are raising money to go directly to his family to help with his medical bills. Any donation is appreciated and we ask that if you can’t donate that you please share his story. Let’s come together for Armando and the Barragan family like he has done so many times for all of us. Any amount donated adds up to make
a big difference for the family. We thank you again and Happy Holiday's.
