Armando’s Medical Life Funds

Donation protected
Hi everyone, I am starting a Go Fund Me for my father Armando Delgadillo. Armando is a 79-year-old retired veteran. He came to this country at 12 years old, joined the US Army at 17. He became a Green Beret Special Forces Specialist and advised in many countries. Literally helping liberate the oppressed.

A few years later he met my mother, and the rest is history. On April 4, 2023, he was admitted to the hospital because his appendix perforated. Due to inflammation in this area no surgery was performed at that time. He was released after 5 days. After one night at home, he was admitted again through the ER. He had severe edema in his mid and lower regions. His blood pressure was very high with a resting heart rate of 158.

He had to have an emergency appendectomy. During the surgery 7 abscesses were discovered in his intestines. Three of the abbesses were removed during the appendectomy and four were left with stents to be drained. After his surgery his heart rate would not go down he had gone into Atrial Fibrillation. Even with medication 4x per day his heart rate was not going down. Putting him under for another procedure was very risky at that time. He was unable to receive a blood thinner at that time which is standard after a major operation. You are 5x more at risk to have a stroke or heart attack when having A Fib. The medical team decided that he would have Cardioversion. Fortunately, that went well. Armando stayed in the hospital for the rest of the month of April.

Prior to discharge he had the option of going to nursing/rehabilitation home or coming home and needed care 24/7 with home-aides with daily/weekly visits. I know my father no matter how great this facility was/is he would not flourish (mentally)in that setting. He also has PTSD. I decided to bring him home and have after care at home making me his primary caregiver. Armando came home with an open wound 6inches in length and 2 inches in depth. He had heart issues and an open wound he was out through the ringer. Unfortunately, he lost 30lbs in the hospital and was a bit week. He tripped over his walker and hit his head. Back to the hospital. A month later he tripped getting out of bed and broke his foot. In the August he had an acute heart attack and was admitted back into the hospital. Released after a week and now he is dealing with edema again. He has/had moderate protein calorie deficiency, acute appendicitis with generalized peritonitis and gangrene, acute blood loss anemia, thrombocythemia, Stage 3a Kidney Disease, Atrial Flutter, accute pulmonary edema, right ingunial hernia, paroxysmal atrial flutter, essential hypertension, diabetes and I forgot to mention a couple of slipped discs in his back.

Armando’s medical bills along with medications, supplemental insurance, taxes has completely depleted his 401k retirement funds. Also, my additional income to assist in his bills has been nonexistent for 5 months.

If his supplemental insurance is not kept up to date some of his medications will go up in price and either it will have to be changed. He has and is utilizing all discounts that are available to him. He has never asked for anything this entire time. He is someone who has been donating to the Girls and Boys Club, Fraternal Police, Veterans and Planned Parenthood. He has been donating for decades. Never plays a victim. He rolls with the punches and never complains. I am advocating for him for help, assistance, support whatever it is called to any of you. I am surprised he let me do this for him. Any kind of donation would help. Every cent counts. I am aware everyone cannot give. If you cannot give please keep Armando in your prayers and thoughts during this difficult time. Please help a man that came to this country and defended it and kept giving to those in need.

Thank you for taking the time to read, donate, pray and or acknowledge Armando Delgadillo.
