Armenian Girls Present Cancer Research at FEBS in Milan

Hi my name is Khajag and I am fundraising for a team of talented students from Yerevan State Medical University's Heratsi High School, comprising 12th graders Lena Manukyan, Mariam Dokhoyan, 10th grader Sofi Sargsyan, and their mentor, PhD Biology teacher Rubina Harutyunyan, who have developed an award-winning scientific research project titled "Breaking Bad Cells: The Antioxidant Approach to Cancer Treatment." Their innovative work, which investigates the effects of the natural antioxidant melatonin on cancer cells, has already garnered prestigious accolades, including first place at both the 22nd Annual AESA Science Olympiad 2023 and The Armenian School Science Festival 2023.
This year, the team is poised to present their findings at the 48th FEBS Congress ('FEBS 2024'), a renowned international conference hosted in Milan, Italy, from June 29 to July 3, 2024. The FEBS Congress provides a unique platform for young scientists to exchange ideas with leading international researchers, fostering invaluable opportunities for knowledge enhancement, networking, and collaboration.
The journey to Milan, however, presents financial hurdles. Despite securing government support for flight tickets, the team faces expenses including the participation fee, accommodation, and associated travel costs. To make their participation possible and to bring their groundbreaking research to the global stage, the team seeks financial assistance. This support will not only facilitate their attendance at FEBS 2024 but also contribute to the advancement of cancer treatment research.
The funds will be used for the following:
- Participation fee for 4 participants
- Accommodation for 4 participants (7 days, 6 nights, June 28th - July 4th)
- Transaction fees
