Armenta Family Needs Your Support

On December 9, my father, Ramon Armenta, was rushed to the hospital. He complained about a pain in his leg, and that same night, doctors were running tests on him. A few hours went by, and he got worse. Doctors informed us that my dad has a disease named Guillain-Barré syndrome, which causes his body to lose movement little by little. As far as we know, there’s no cure for it.

During that time, he was still held in the hospital while receiving medication, and so, the doctors and I agreed to wait and see how things would turn out in 2 weeks. The first treatment that was done on him was plasma, which doctors saw no progress. The doctors later had a meeting with all of my family, Jorge Armenta, Jose Armenta, Ruby Armenta, and Alicia Armenta (ages ranging from 14 to 20), and they told us that there wasn’t a lot of hope for him, but the doctors wanted to do a second treatment to hopefully see some type of progress. Unfortunately, halfway through the second treatment, it was stopped. His body continued to shut off on him. He wasn’t moving his eyes anymore, and whenever you touched him, his body felt similar to Play-Doh.

After this, doctors yet again held another meeting which confirmed that there wasn’t hope anymore. As much as they were trying to continue to help, my dad was getting worse. Two options were given to us: either continue treating him, sending him to a nursing home, and praying to God that he got better, but it was a slight chance that he wouldn’t make it. The second option was to disconnect him from the breathing machine due to his lungs collapsing on him. We always came home and prayed to God that a miracle was going to happen, but unfortunately, we have to make this hard decision to disconnect him.

I’m reaching out for help since my dad doesn’t have insurance. Anything helps, and we will really appreciate it. Thank you for taking the time to read this as well.
