Monday night I rushed Baxter to Blue Pearl Emergency Vet. He just wasn't right. Always listen to your gut!
He was suddenly weak, lethargic, fast pased heavy panting. After a bunch of imaging and an overnight stay, they determined that he had fluid in his abdomen and that fluid was blood, probably from a bleeding tumor.
After many unbearable conversations with myself and some helpful & productive conversations with others, I had to make a quick decision to hopefully save his life. We don't know a lot, which is why I don't want to give up on him. They are unsure at this point if it is a benign tumor or cancer. They won't know until they open him up. If he is riddled with cancer, they will not wake him up and i will lose my best friend. I choose hope. I hope that it is one benign tumor that they will remove, there will be no complications, and my best friend will make a full recovery and be out on the patios with me again soon.
I just couldn't let $ get in the way of giving him a chance. He deserves it.
Thank you for your thought, prayers and support.
