Loving arms for Austin

This is not a handout. This is not even a hand up. This is a village raising a family. This is women rallying around one of our own. This is love.

Tiffany Meyer

is an inspiring single mother of 4 incredible, red-headed boys. Austin (age 10 months), Bailey (Age 2) George (Age 5) and Chris (Age 10).

As a mother of 3 children myself, I find that I complain more than I used to. About dirty state of my house. The impossible task of keeping up with laundry. The sticky handprints that seem to be a constant. How hard it is to have 3 kids and to find time for myself...

In all of the time I have known Tiffany, she has not complained even once. Not about how hard it is to raise 4 boys on a single income. How tired she is after working overnight shifts so that she can care for her youngest three children during the day. The constant badgering questions of "Mom, where are my shoes? Mom, where is my karate uniform? Mom? Mom? Mommmmmmmaaaa?".

Tiffany is a completely self-reliant woman. She is the type of woman who makes me proud to BE a woman.

At NO time has she ever asked anyone for help. Ever. Even now.

Tiffany's younges son, Austin (my favorite baby ever), is extremely ill. She needs us.

Single moms with 4 kiddos and a full-time job don't have the luxury of savings. They (like my own single mother) do what they can to make it work. Sometimes we play "bill chess" and sometimes it's hand to mouth.

Tiffany is still a nursing mother and Austin refuses any source of nutrients other than direct breast feeding. She has to be with him at all times. Who would not want to be with thier sick baby anyway though, right?

We don't know what precisely is going on with Austin yet, but here is what we do know.

His spleen is 5x it's normal size.
His body is not producing oxygen.
His bone marrow is failing to create red cells.
His liver is hardly functioning.
He is beginning to show signs of acute jaundice.

Although his doctors keep dropping the word "lukemia", we won't know precisely what is going on until he has had several bone marrow tests.

The point is, Austin is very sick, he needs his mother and his mother needs us.

We need funds in the immediate future so that we (Tiffanys friends) can help to pay her rent, utilities and cover groceries and child care for her 3 older sons. She cannot work in the current state. She will not qualify for FMLA as far as we can tell so far and doesn't recieve state benefits.

In the long term, Tiffany may need financial help that we cannot forsee just yet. In fact, I know she will.

I would sell everything I own to help this incredible family, but I also have 3 children to care for and I cannot do this alone.

If you can help, please do. Every single dollar will help. Again...This is not a handout. This is not even a hand up. This is a village raising a family. This is women rallying around one of our own. This is love.
