Army veterans wife Danielle's critical recovery from tragic
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Brandon Kett and I am a proud veteran of the Royal Canadian Dragoons, honrably serving 14 years and having served in the middle east in 2007. During my service, I sustained a brain injury and developed PTSD, challenges that have shaped my life in profound ways. I am a father of 6 beautiful children who I have endearing and undying love for. Married in 2022 and we dedicated time to aid other struggling veterans. That is also what inspired me to open a grassroots Jiu-Jitsu gym in the South Bruce Peninsula—a place where veterans and members of our community can find strength, support, and resilience through mental health initiatives and physical activity.
My wife Danielle is my bestfriend and my ride or die. We have been though the ringer when it comes to life's hardships that have hit us. Just eating alot behind the scenes and managing a complex situation with little support. That being said, we have always been committed to building a life centered on helping others, but now, we find ourselves in need of that same support.
On August 14th, Danielle, who is just 29 years old and 10 ½ weeks pregnant, was rushed to the in Wiarton, ON. Emergency room after experiencing some spotting. We feared for the worst, but nothing could have prepared us for what followed. An ultrasound revealed a rare and extremely dangerous ectopic pregnancy growing into the scar of her previous C-section.
She was immediately transferred by ambulance to London Hospital, where a leading expert & specialized team was ready to perform surgery. During the procedure, the doctors discovered that the pregnancy had attached itself around a major artery in her upper uterus. When they tried to remove it, Danielle began to hemorrhage, losing nearly 3 liters of blood. The situation was critical, and in a desperate bid to save her life, the doctors were forced to perform an emergency hysterectomy. I am thankful to God that she was able to survive to be a mother, wife and just amazing person who kind and thoughtful to everyone before herself.
Danielle survived, but the surgery meant she lost the ability to naturally conceive a child—a heartbreaking reality for us both. Danielle had always dreamed of giving birth again, especially to a little girl we planned to name Violet.
This has been a devastating blow, not just emotionally, but physically and financially as well. Danielle now faces a long recovery, unable to work and needing to take time to heal and recover. The financial burden has become overwhelming. We were already struggling, pouring everything we had into building our gym and mental health support for others, and now, we’re at a crossroads.
We are also being served a N-21 evection notice and were suppose to be out Sept 01 2024. We have no home lined up as the one we had secured backed out after we signed a least agreement with before this all happened on top. We aren't going to able to save first and last realitically.
We are reaching out to our community, friends, and anyone who may be touched by our story, asking for help in this difficult time. Your support, whether through donations, sharing our story, or keeping us in your thoughts, would mean the world to us. It would help us cover the mounting medical bills and daily expenses during Danielle’s recovery, and allow us to continue to make our ends meet. We are committed to keeping the gym open to help others in due time, that has become our life’s mission—supporting others in their own battles.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for any help you can offer.
❤️
