On Wednesday, October 12th, the McNeely family lost their rock of a husband and father, Mick McNeely. The week prior, the McNeely family had all gathered in Arizona, to watch the eldest of the children, Shaine, pitch in the Arizona Fall League for the New York Yankees. As the week ended, everyone in the family returned home, but Mick stayed in Arizona to visit some business clients throughout the state.
While driving on a highway in Northern Arizona, Mick became seriously ill and was escorted by a police officer to the local hospital in Payson, AZ for treatment. His condition was very serious, which sent him to a Level 1 trauma facility in Phoenix. Once there, it was discovered that Mick had an aortic dissection and was scheduled for emergency surgery. Mick battled for over 8 hours, before attempts to restart his heart were unsuccessful.
The loss of Mick has been a complete shock and tragedy for his family, who relied upon him for his guidance, love, and financial support. Mick was a very proud man and would never ask for help if needed, but would be the first one to help others. There are many who can testify to the loving, caring, and genuine nature Mick had toward his family, friends and strangers in need. At 6 ft 5 in and built like an oak tree, his physical size was dwarfed by his heart of gold.
Any assistance you can provide to the McNeely family during this tragic time, would be greatly appreciated.
