Arrow's Vet Expenses due to hypothermia
Donation protected
Hi my name is Lexi and this is our family dog Arrow. He ran away yesterday around 1pm and we found him stuck in the middle of a frozen pond around 6pm. We rescued him out of the pond with a ladder and got him on land. We wrapped him up in a blanket on the snow to get him dry and took carried him inside. He was not mobile and had no feeling in all 4 legs. When we brought him inside we got him more warm, dry blankets and towels. We massaged his legs and body to help him get some feeling back. We called the animal hospital and they told us to bring him in. We carried him to the car and took him to the hospital. A normal temperature for a dog is 101 degrees farienheight. When Arrow got into the emergency vet it was 10pm and his temperature was 92 degrees, and that's after hours of him being kept warm with blankets and heat circulating in the car. The vet has given us some antibiotics for him to take every 12 hours. They are concerned about his blood potentially clotting due to going into hypothermia. The estimate we got from this visit is very high and we are looking for any help we can get during this difficult time.
