Art and Essentials for Orphanages in Tijuana, MX

My name is Thao French (of Mindful Murals) and I am raising money for art supplies, shoes and murals for the children that reside at Casa Hogar Sonrisa De Angeles and Casa Hogar Morada in Tijuana, Mexico. Earlier this February we successfully raised 2000.00 to be able to get essentials and art supplies for the children with our friend Vero of (www.veroartsy.com) and we are ready to do it again just in time for Christmas.

 

Our purpose for the Mural Art Project is to bring love and creativity into their lives.  Most of these children and teenagers come from homes with extreme poverty, abusive homes, or parents who are incarcerated.  All of the funds will go towards travel for volunteers, art supplies, paint and shoes for the kids. Volunteer artists including myself that are involved will be donating their time and artwork for these two orphanages. The murals we are planning on making will also include the children's contribution of the painting of the walls so part of this project will allow them to learn how to paint. My hope is that each child can take part in creating a beautiful mural which will remind them of how much they matter in this world regardless of their circumstances.

 

Art is a way to heal and create hope and resilience during challenging times. When they see that people care and that they too can create beautiful artwork, it will remind them to keep persevering in life.
