2022 was an extraordinary year for Artcite Inc!

We celebrated our 40th anniversary, navigated the tricky terrain of re-building an organization post-pandemic, expanded our programming, added valuable opportunities for regional artists, welcomed new leadership on our Board of Directors, and hired an amazing bookkeeping service to help us prepare for our next 40 years. We enjoyed bringing programming into the county, including Pelee Island, and look forward to another year of unique partnerships.

Despite a major basement renovation that began in November 2022, we still managed to organize and install our beloved holiday/membership show Doin the Louvre and it was a success! During a time of economic difficulties, we were able to sell almost 20% of the art and for the second year, 100% of the sales with back to the artists with Artcite receiving 0% commission. During a time of great loss, we want the community to know we care and will support them to the best of our ability, within our means.

Sadly, we lost Christine Burchnall, who served Artcite as Programming Coordinator and Executive Director for more than 30 years (RIP) we plan to name a gallery wall in her honor.

Artcite had a miraculous couple of years, all things considered, and we’re raising the bar for 2023. As the world continues to change, we'll continue changing with it. Our vision is to witness Artcite transition into its elder position in our regional arts community, becoming a community hub of resource and innovation for emerging artists who will one day inherit this great organization.

Help us give Artcite a financial boost for 2023. An investment in your artist-run centre, is an investment in the future of our local arts community. Be part of the revolutionary change that propels Artcite into a place of sustainability. Help us grow a kind and collaborative economy within our organizational structure that will ensure the fulfillment of our mission for many years to come. Our goal is to raise $20,000 by summer. As a charitable organization, we can offer charitable receipts to personal and corporate donors and sponsors. Throughout 2023, Artcite is planning several fundraising events that include artists and food markets, pasta dinners, raffles, film nights, open mic nights and a sketchathon. The future is bright and exciting for Artcite Inc., and our $20,000 goal is just the beginning.
