Arthur's Peru Adventure!
Donation protected
Hi,
My name is Arthur, and I’m about to embark on the trip of a lifetime with Paddington! I’m thrilled to be joining Howden School and Camps International on an incredible four-week journey to the Sacred Valley in Peru, South America, in the summer of 2026.
This won’t be just an ordinary school trip! In Peru, we’ll be working closely with local communities on various projects, depending on what’s needed when we arrive. We’ll help build essential infrastructure such as homes, toilets, schools, community centers, and hospitals, along with tasks like plastering, sanding, and carpentry. We’ll also contribute to environmental efforts by planting trees and helping to protect the local wildlife—especially llamas!
Our accommodation will be simple, as we’ll be camping within a small Peruvian community. When we’re not busy with project work or making a difference in the fight against poverty, we’ll have the opportunity to immerse ourselves in local traditions, like cooking and traditional dancing. I can’t wait to experience it all!
In addition to our community work, we’ll also face the challenge of trekking the famous Salkantay trail, leading us all the way to Machu Picchu, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the Seven Wonders of the World!
Before the trip, it’s my responsibility to raise the necessary funds, and I’ve come up with some exciting plans to make it happen. I’ll be taking part in various physical challenges (hopefully starting with the 3 peaks!) making homemade marmalade jam, offering to do odd jobs in my local area, and reaching out to local businesses. In exchange for their support, I’ll be offering to feature their logos on my Camps International t-shirt during the trip! If you have FOMO, then please do get in touch :)
