Artisan Support Fund

SECOND WAVE UPDATE FROM TARA PROJECTS:
As you may know, India has been gripped by the Covid surge for the last couple of months and the situation remains grim. Delhi is still under a complete lockdown, bringing all work and production to a complete halt for the past several weeks. The mutant virus is spreading fast and hospitals are swamped with patients fighting for their lives. Several of our relatives and friends are already under the grip of the deadly virus. Some sadly we lost. There is no more place in the hospitals with an acute shortage of oxygen, medicines, and vaccines. Health infrastructure has crumbled and it has been very hard to access necessary care, in spite of our best efforts. The situation remains very grim with countless lives lost every day. The coming days are very uncertain as the situation is out of control. With the current lockdown, let us hope that this step will help to control the spread to an extent.
After the lockdown restrictions are lifted, we will be resuming the distribution of food ration kits and medical kits like last year to the underserved communities. Your generous support was able to allow over 700 food ration kits to be distributed over the course of the first wave. We are again asking for your support to raise funds in order to support more families in marginalized communities we work in. For INR 1575 or $21 USD, you can support a family of 4 with dry food rations for a month, and for INR 500, or less than $7 you can provide a health kit for a family, see below.
We thank you for your support and please share this fundraiser with your family and friends.

- 10 kg wheat flour
- 3 kg rice

FROM APRIL 2020 FIRST WAVE:
As a response to COVID-19, India has come under a strict lockdown since March 23. This has slowed down coronavirus cases, but it has also devastated our 800 strong artisan community. While we are all affected by this pandemic, marginalized communities we work with are especially vulnerable during this time of crisis.
With our workshops shut and ongoing orders at a standstill, our artisans fear hunger before coronavirus can get to them. They are looking at a horrifying future as their life has become a struggle for sustenance. Their only source of income has been threatened and their lives completely uprooted.
We seek your support during this difficult time. We have already distributed thousands of hot meals and face masks but we need your support to keep going. Please help us help our artisan communities. We are committed to supporting them through this challenging time. With your help, we will make sure their basic needs are met, but we can't do it without you!
Your support and donations will be vital for the survival of hundreds in underserved communities. Please donate and share this campaign today! Your contribution will go very far in India.
