Artist Jane Ziegler

Sierra Nevada mountains pleine-aire artist and longtime resident of Miramonte, CA,  Jane Ziegler was diagnosed with stage four lymphoma in February of this year.  She has begun chemotherapy and is halfway through treatments.  There have been many complications in which Jane has been hospitalized numerous times.  The most recent hospitalization resulted in surgery to remove a blockage in her intestine. She now looks forward to healing and continuing chemotherapy, which she has been responding to positively… her lymphomas are shrinking. 
 
Jane has been forced to give up all she’s known as home for the last 2 decades.  She lives out of the mountains now, temporarily closer to doctors and treatments, under the loving care of friends.   As an artist, her life has been dedicated to creating, and living off of her artwork,  and now she is suffering from these health issues on a very limited budget.  She needs help with some medical bills and help with basic living expenses and she will need  help in enabling her return to the passion she has shared with the community for so many years. 

What makes Jane so unique as an artist?  Many feel it is her adventuring spirit that led her into the remote back-country, alone.   Late into her 60’s Jane could still be found solo-packing her two horses with weeks of food and art supplies into the Sierra Nevada back-country of Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, the subjects of her many awe-inspiring landscapes.   Her vision and resolve has been to paint and capture the glory of the natural world; in the past, the high granite mountains, rugged canyons,  and fertile landscape of the mountains, and in the future this and other landscapes that similarly touch her spirit.
